About

Trevor Eyerkuss is the Program Director at The Archangel Centers, the person responsible for the day-to-day program clients actually experience. PHP, IOP, OP, the schedule, the groups, the facilitators, the rhythm of the week, all of it lands at this seat.

Trevor brings lived recovery experience to the role. After a decade-long struggle with addiction, he found a path through recovery, and that path is the lens he brings to running the program. Clients who walk in skeptical that the people running the clinic could ever understand what they're going through are wrong in his case.

Role at Archangel

What the Program Director seat owns

Trevor's responsibilities as Program Director are operational, hands-on, and visible to clients every day:

  • Day-to-day program operations across all three levels of outpatient care (PHP, IOP, OP)
  • Group programming coordination, right groups, right times, right facilitators
  • Direct client engagement, checking in, surfacing issues early, connecting clients to their primary therapist and the medical team when something is off
  • Coordination with the admissions team on new starts and with the clinical team on level-of-care movement
  • Holding the culture of the program, the day-to-day feel that determines whether clients keep showing up
Lived recovery experience

Why this lens matters in this seat

Most people walking into an outpatient addiction program have one private worry: the staff will not actually understand what they have been through. Trevor's lived recovery experience is the reason that worry does not land at Archangel.

He has spoken publicly about his recovery on the Core Energy Experience podcast and in the recovery community. The advocacy work is a complement to the clinic role, not the center of it, the center of the role is running the program well. Both inform each other.

The day-to-day feel of the program is what determines whether clients keep showing up. That feel is my job. It is not a side responsibility, it is the responsibility.

Outside the clinic

Long Branch Ocean Rescue. Jetty Surf Shop.

Outside The Archangel Centers, Trevor is an integral part of Jetty Surf Shop and a longtime member of the Long Branch Ocean Rescue Squad. Both connections speak to the same theme: showing up consistently for a community over a long stretch of years.

That habit is the same one that makes the Program Director role work. You can not run a program well from a distance, and you can not run it well only on the days when it is easy.
