Monmouth County Department of Human Services

The county-level coordinating body for human services, including substance use and mental health. Programs include county mental health board services, addiction services coordination, and referrals to local providers.

Monmouth County Sheriff's Office / County Prosecutor's Office

Relevant for Recovery Court placements and for naloxone distribution programs through law enforcement partnerships. See NJ drug court.

Monmouth County Regional Health Commission

Some areas of the county are served by the regional health commission, which coordinates public health functions including overdose response, naloxone distribution, and harm reduction programming.

Naloxone access

Naloxone (Narcan) reverses opioid overdose. In New Jersey, naloxone is available without a prescription in most pharmacies, and is distributed free through several state and county programs:

If you live with or near someone who uses opioids, naloxone is a basic safety step.

• NJ DMHAS Naloxone Initiative: free naloxone at participating pharmacies through the state program
• Monmouth County Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's Office programs: have included free naloxone distribution at certain community events
